Helping kids with cancer and their families

Our Story

Quinton was a normal eleven-year-old boy who ran around with his friends, played baseball, and built Legos. In May 2011, we noticed his spine had curved dramatically. An MRI revealed that a large tumor was growing inside his spinal cord. A successful surgery removed most of the tumor, but surgeons felt that to get it all was to paralyze him.

After surgically removing most of his tumor (and cutting all his vertebrae) Quinton was able to live a pretty normal life for another 18 months -- earning his Eagle Scout Award. After his relapse, chemo was his best option, but it didn't work very well. Quinton was paralyzed at the age of 14 and amazed us with his resilience, his dignity, his grit. Even through treatments, Quinton went to school and succeeded in his education. In February 2017, he passed away due to complications of his condition. We honor his memory and share his story to show others how he fought, how he loved, and how he lived.

Why Ironman?

Quinton was a huge fan of Marvel Comics -- he loved Stan Lee's creations -- and he read them like crazy! Ironman was his favorite, and we felt the character is a reminder that to truly be a hero, we must fight the toughest battles with dignity when we are faced with the lowest odds.
